Your piano is a complex musical machine, which is why Ken from Ken Coleman's Piano Service is the professional piano expert you need. For over 40-years, Ken has been the community's trusted expert in all piano services, and as a musician himself, he knows exactly what to look for and how specific keys and notes should sound.

Ken's passion for pianos started when he was young and was a pianist looking for an acoustic piano. The salesman showing him all of their piano options opened one of them up, and Ken thought it was exciting and wanted to learn more.

Ken started asking his friend within the band how to get into piano tuning. Ken's friend had just finished taking a course at Temple University. Ken then signed up for the same course, which was geared for piano majors.

When Ken was taking classes, his instructor saw potential in him, and they created a friendship that would follow Ken into his first informal apprenticeship. Ken would spend his apprenticeship rebuilding and tuning pianos in his instructor's shop. When his instructor felt he was ready to start tuning for his clients, Ken eventually worked full time for him for a while before branching off on his own. Ken continued serving pianos full-time ever since.

He took great care with an old upright that hadn't been tuned in 23 years and got it back on the road to being a vibrant, playable instrument again. We still have some more repair work to do, but so far we're really pleased with his efforts.

I reached out to Ken to have my recently gifted Sohmer Baby Grand tuned. The piano is well over 100 years old and who knows when it was last tuned. Ken was friendly, courteous, and very knowledgeable. He explained the inner workings of the piano and we discussed tuning to 440 vs. relative tuning due to the age of my piano. I'm a musician so we also had time to chat about music in general. Ken's prices are very reasonable and I highly recommend him for all your piano tuning/repair needs.

I inherited a piano that had not been played or tuned in some 50 years, but is in excellent condition with no obvious repairs needed. Ken scheduled an appointment for the next day ( a well-timed cancellation), arrived promptly, and finished the tuning quickly. He was pleasant and professional. I plan to call him again in a few weeks for a follow-up tuning and thereafter as needed.
